In the last two Q & A sessions with Diamond Select Toys / Art Asylum here and here, we have learned that all seven-inch Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, and Stargate figures are going on hiatus for all of 2010. The upcoming Battlestar Galactica Boomer and Athena two-pack will still be released, but after that it will depend on further retailer support. This saddens me greatly, as I am an avid collector of all three of these lines. It makes me even more sad knowing that I am still missing key characters in all these lines. After spending a great deal of money to collect all the various Star Trek figures, I will likely never have Voyager represented in this scale and format now. The beautiful Seven of Nine, or any of the Borg figures will never fill my shelves. From The Original Series; I shall not be getting a Nurse Chapel, Yeoman Rand, or the Salt Vampire. From Battlestar Galactica; I will be missing William Adama, Gaius Baltar, President Laura Roslin, and Admiral Helena Cain in my collection. From Stargate SG-1; I cannot have my Ba’al, General George Hammond, Black Ops Samantha Carter, General Jack O’Neill in Air Force Uniform (OK, I could have done without that one.) or the Horus Guard in my collection. Sad, sad days for collectors…
If you collect these figures too, here’s what you can do that might help. Take a minute to write Diamond Select Toys, let them know how much you would really like these lines to continue. You can e-mail them at: [email protected]. Go to your Local Comic Shops and ask for figures from these lines. Ask them if you can pre-order Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica and Stargate figures from them. They will likely say no, but it will at least show them there is still interest. I call out to all of you to help save these lines!
