Built by Iron Man for his best friend James Rhodes, the War Machine armor was meant to fill in whenever Iron Man wasn’t available. Every bit as powerful as Tony Stark’s original armor, and bristling with weapons, War Machine is built not just to stop evil, but to destroy it totally.

It wasn’t long into his adventuring career before Tony Stark realized that smashing through walls at supersonic speeds isn’t always the best solution to a problem. He designed this stealth suit to allow him to sneak into enemy strongholds unobserved. Of course, there’s also plenty of firepower – just in case!

Created by Russian scientist Anton Vanko to perform miracles of electrical control, the Crimson Dynamo was every bit as powerful as Iron Man. Manipulated by his Soviet masters, Vanko very nearly defeated the American hero before he realized his mistake and committed himself to the cause of freedom.

By the time he joined the Avengers, Tony Stark has already modified the Iron Man armor several times. This version incorporated the latest in transistor and magnetic repulsor technology, and even allowed Iron Man to fly!
