Klaw is the next action figure from Hasbro’s The Return of Marvel Legends Wave One we’ll be taking a look at. The base body used here is the Silver Surfer from the Fantastic Four wave, which was also used for the Vision and Sensational Spider-Man. The character info at Marvel.com lists him as 6’ 2” and he measures in right at six inches, so his scale is pretty close. This figure has only has paint apps on the trunks and face but it works for the classic look of Klaw. The head sculpt is dead on and I love the open mouth with the mouth-piece showing. He can tilt his head all the way back but he can’t look down unless you use the ab-crunch to point him down. The sonic converter arm prosthetic is nicely done too and looks like it has a very light black wash. The sonic converter is a molded forearm and not just a glued on extension. The other hand has a open-palmed grasping pose.
Klaw has a ball-joint head, ball-joint shoulders, double pinned elbows swivel hinged wrists, ab-crunch and a cut waist. Ball-joint hips, double pinned knees, and swivel ankles. As you can see in my packaged pictures, he had some warping at the knees from the packaging pose. Once again; I had to set out to fix another figure straight out of the package. I had to heat him up with the blow drier, bend the knee back into place and cool the plastic down. I’ll say it again, I really don’t like action poses in the package! I don’t think that has ever been a factor in whether I bought a figure or not. “Ah man, I can’t buy this Iron Man! He’s not in an action pose in the package.” Please stop doing this. Klaw has no accessories. He comes with the left leg for the Build-a-Figure Terrax.
I think it’s cool to have a classic villain like Klaw in my collection now. I have to admit it surprised me to see he was in the line-up for the first wave. I think he looks pretty good even with not having much paint on him.
