Jesse Falcon who held the position of Director of Product Development for Toy Biz/Marvel Toys and now works closely with Hasbro in licensing for Marvel, has made a post on TheFwoosh concerning all of the doom and gloom being voiced on many of the Action Figure forums of late.
Hey Guys it’s Jesse
Long time no chat right! I’ve been reading a lot of gloom and doom about the 6″ Legends line. Well, I wanted to come on the Fwoosh and let you guys know that next weekend your going to see something I think is amazingly cool that will be happening with the 6″ Marvel Legends line. And I really wanted to come here and let you know that the 6″ line is alive and Hasbro has a very dedicated team that plans on making some very cool 6″ product over the next couple of years.
I also wanted to let you know that the 3.75″ line looks amazing! If when you get them in hand you agree an I think you will you should thank the entire Hasbro crew because they all worked very hard on this line to make it what it is.
So when you get a second if you come to NYCC swing by the Marvel booth, and say hi!
I think your really going to like what you see!
Best,
Jesse
In the past, Mr. Falcada posted regularly on TheFwoosh before the change-over from Toy Biz to Hasbro. Hasbro doesn’t much like to release advance information and restricts it’s employees from making comments on forums. I am excited to hear that this line will not die, yet. It will be very interesting to hear some of the plans for the Marvel Legends line after the New York Comic Con (NYCC) which runs from February 6th through the 8th.
Wow, where to begin…
Marvel Legends should have stayed securely in the hands of Toybiz. Shifting the focus to Hasbro has not only hurt Toybiz but Also Marvel. The entire reason I began to read comics again in 2003 was because of the Marvel Legends figures. I even began buying back issues to find out what happened in comics before 2003, supporting comic book shops with my hard-earned money. This brand has been on life support ever since Hasbro took over. If Hasbro continues to mess up Marvel Legends with their continual corner-cutting than I will select to leave the line altogether.
How will I complete my collection you ask…there are dedicated customizers and ebay sellers out there that will sell their items to me on a secondary market. I will no longer purchase off the rack ML figures anymore if the same mistakes continue to be made into 2012
Hi Doug! I agree that Hasbro certainly made some mistakes when they took the reins. I am hoping though, that with the time they spent shifting their focus to the Marvel Universe line, that they have had time to learn from past mistakes. I think that character selection in the Marvel Universe line has been outstanding. I am hoping that trend follows suit in Legends too. There are still way too many A-lister repeats for my tastes, but I have started to choose to more selectively buy the comic packs, box sets and repaints. I intend to do the same for whatever spin-off's they come up with for Legends as well. The thing that I am most disappointed in already was the shift from the previously mentioned no longer including BaF parts, to now they are back to including BaF parts. I was hoping to be able to pick and choose which characters I would buy when they first mentioned no more BaF's. Now, I will have to buy all of the wave once again. I'm really trying to remain hopeful that things will be better this time though. I watch custom Marvel Legends figures on E-Bay too. There are definitely some talented customizers out there. I just don't have $50.00 to $150.00 (or more.) to spend on custom figures though.
